Saw the story about the price cut, while on break (ironically I work at Target, where we have been receiving a lot of the IPad 1 16/wifi's lately, and selling them as fast as we were getting them in at $399.99) and got out of work at 8:30 went straight to the Verizon store, and bought the last 16 they had.
They of course tried to up sell me cases, mifi,keyboards, applecare, and I said no, and the rep went to page two of the handbook, meanwhile she did not even know the price was cut, until I informed her, as she told me there is not much price difference between the 1 and the 2, I consider $200 a lot. :p

Computers and phones isn't the same thing. I could see them doing it with the iPad since its a computer but I honestly can't see them doing it with the iPhone. Might they change the size of the screen for the next iPhone? Yes. Will they sell two models with different screen sizes? No.
I think that apple's past success in expanding their ranges, specifically with iPods, has been their ability to market different models slightly differently. Look at the ipod mini, essentially the same as the original iPod, only smaller, but marketed as a cool new apple product in different colours that is more affordable. I don't see any reason why this strategy cannot be applied to phones. They wouldn't really have to do very much at all for this to work apart from make a good quality product. New apple product = hype = sales. I think that this is more true now than it ever has been.

I've always had great service from T-Mobile.
I hear that customers with iPhones on T-Mobile who need help get transferred to the "Unsupported Handset Area" where they more than help out since there are so many iPhones on T-Mobile and they are a provider in Europe...

for a small sum of a $1billion usd, i volunteer to watch over the innocent children and their purchases. I will smack their little fingers with a a bamboo cane. Suddenly this reminds me of that south park episode where they started smacking "add" kids. "sit down and study." i think parents need to get caned then schooled into using parental controls

That being said, I love any Fender guitar I have come across whether owning it, testing it out, or borrowing it for a gig, every Apple product I have ever owned, and the Matix jeans, my sole American product are not bad either.

Here we go kids!! Expect lot's of grandstanding and some real knee jerk legislation cause this IS the year to gear up for the big election. I wish someone would inform people that it's their responsibility to be informed consumers AND parents. My kid racked up $380 in cell downloads in one month. I didn't need my senator to step in. I took away her phone for a month, blocked her ability to purchase ANYTHING on it, and worked out the bill with my provider (AT&T) who practically wiped it all away. This is just going to burden us with more laws and subsequently, more taxes in the form of direct taxation of products, indirect taxes by way of price hikes due to a rise in business tax, or BOTH.
Wow some semi-competent parenting here quality bravo that's something America needs more widespread these days, well at least around here. Break your iPhone? No problem dady's an Anesthesiologist mom's a lawyer just by you a new one! Crash your birthday gift an Audi S4 into a telephone pole while screwing around? No problem momy's best friends with the town judge! (yes true stories). Ranting aside this is so rediculous. This would be like if the FCC was called in to monitor how files are transfered around my home network, aka something pity that should be left to these things we call parents. BTW putting a credit card into a kids iPhone is the dumbest idea in the world. You can teach them the value of a dollar if instead you give them an iTunes card and tell them its the only one there getting for X amount of time.

Thanks for the great ideas ... I like the idea of using Chronosync to sync both machines on the same network ... might give that a shot. Currently using Dropbox as a usb drive replacement.

I don't see Apple getting more than 10% marketshare anytime soon unless they do something significant.
If they have the richest 10% than that's important as they probably buy 50% of software, to Apple $499 machines don't matter as the users are (generally) ignorant (as they don't want to spend a lot on a computer so generally don't care about them) and are therefore more likely to get Spyware/Viruses, they also don't buy any software (except possibly Office), Apple *wants* those users on Windows.
Also their laptop share is already 12% in the US, with more stores that could grow to about 20% easily.
