Isn't a healthy chunk of OS X based on FreeBSD? A free, open source Unix distro? In a sense, if they use FreeBSD and do not contribute back to the very open source community they're borrowing from, doesn't that make Apple a thief? Maybe I'm missing something :o

Well, then I'm a complete moron.
Some people are actually interested in marketing, and would love to have a centralized place to view how large companies are advertising on one of the largest mobile spaces in the world.

The SD slot is huge, it'd make the iPhone "4G" comparable to the Dell Mini 5 or whatever it's called.
The aluminum bezel works for the iPad, and the similar design on the MacBooks. But on the iPhone? Not only would it be uncomfortable to hold for long amounts of time, but the GSM frequencies AT&T uses has a hard time going through simple walls, half the time. How would anyone expect five bars at any given time?
With Verizon, yes, the CDMA does much better at relaying frequencies through objects, but there again, what about current AT&T customers? Do we keep AT&T, get switched over, or does Apple manage the two?

Considering that the videos are showing up on the German QuickTime page I think that the movie store is likely to be launched across Europe and Canada as well as the states.
I just hope that the quality of the downloads is good enough to watch on an external tv.

Well if they do launch it so soon, it probably won't replace the current iPods, but be a new highend model.
This would make sense.
To get a decent sized HD, wireless, good battery life, it may need to be bigger. Also, I would think folks would prefer a larger screen than the current iPod size.

You know what I want?
A small UMPC tablet, multitouch and pen input. Really, not a replacement computer but something like a large PDA. Something I can take with me, sit and draw/paint, write blogs at WIFI hotspots, make notes in meetings, and work on my various writings (screenplays, short stories, ect), then come home and sync it up with my iMac. A portable alternative for someone who already has a desktop.
I am still new to this whole Apple thing...love my iMac I got a year ago...but I have no idea what to expect.

i have no love for Verizon, but that was certainly a hilarious commercial.

it will be interesting to see what happens next year when exclusivity supposedly ends

Adobe is almost getting as bad as Microsoft at delivering software. What's up with Darkroom? It's been in beta for over a year, meanwhile Apple has been steadily improving their product.
That's a very public beta which has been steadily improved over that time (the last update was yesterday). Unlike Apple, Adobe haven't charged for the beta experience. Amusingly, some of the top new Apple "innovations" are clones of Lightroom features.

Loosing Denmark, or Norway or both, doesn't matter one bit. It is a courtesy that Apple even allowed these small and meaningless countries to join in on the fun.
Since you claim you work in Denmark, you should know Denmark, as well as Sweden, is a part of European Union (EU). If you had done your homework, you should also know that EU implies that all non-nation specific laws should be idential for all countries in EU (very much the same as in US). That is, if the French and the scandinavians find that Apples DRM violates consumer rights, it has a very good chance to become accepted all over EU. Furthermore, since EU has about 460 million people whereas US only have 296 milion people, it should according to your argumentation about minor markets imply that Apple rather should dump the US market than the european market. :rolleyes:
You should know by now that a company sole purpose is to make money for the shareholders, and nothing else. I very much doubt that board of Apple or its partners even would consider dumping a close to half a billion potential customers.

I'm sorry, but with the release of the "true video" iPod "imminent" for months now, I'm just not going to pay any attention whatsoever until I have one in my hands.
Just like the iPhone, PowerBook G5 (and more recently, Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro, although that release hasn't been "imminent" often enough yet,) etc.
I'm starting to doubt page 1 rumors just as much as I doubt Page 2 rumors. Unless you (MacRumors, not the 'source' website of the rumor,) have credible, reliable, direct sources, it belongs on Page 2. If you don't have direct sources, (as rumors on other websites would be,) it does not belong on page 1. By your own standards.
Just because it's getting a lot of talk, and Engadget claims their sources are good, is no reason to upgrade it to page 1 status. (Heck, the iWalk got a lot of talk back in the day, and SpyMac claimed their sources were good. That didn't make it true.)

Why? AMD's laptop CPU's suck....power that is. Please god no. The Core line has a VERY bright future. That coupled with the DEEP discounts that Apple is most certainly getting makes an AMD migration stupid.
What this move might be about is memory. AMD isn't just about CPU's. They make other chips as well. That and with the ATI buyout Apple may be courting AMD to continue to have access to ATI's wares. At any rate I just don't see this happening. Go to Apple's site. Intel's name is plastered all over the freaking place. Apple isn't going to rain on such a relationship 1 year after establishing it.

The idea of Verizon (or any operator) controlling information leaks seems a little implausible to me -- BoyGeniusReport often publishes leaked screenshots from operators, for example.
That said, there seems to be growing consensus that the Verizon iPhone is coming -- and coming soon!

Because my understanding of awards is that they are usually given to encourage and reward the best, not the best of a subset, but the best of all.
If the majority of previous award winners are NOT in the app store, it would suggest that these awards will NOT be to encourage or reward the best, but rather as a cynical marketing tool. So what is it Apple, are you cynical marketeers, or are you creators of and encouragers of that which is insanely great?
