Does the I-9 need to be refreshed each year?
I have a copy of my Jan 2009 I-94 which is not the most recent one - I believe that was the one that was sent to my employer's lawyers. In Jan 2010, I did get an original I-94 (the one I lost) but did not use it to apply for I-9 (atleast to the best of my knowledge).
Thanks for being so responsive and helping me out. The other thing is the time constraint that I have to take off on Dec 29th (tomorrow). What also worries me is that if I approach the Immigration/customs folks at the nearby airport, won't they basically ask me to fill an I-102 and wait for 3-6 months before I can travel? I don't want to do that since I need to travel now due to family issues.
I don't know how often the I9 has to be refreshed but it maybe 6 months to a year when I came back last time my employer asked for the I94 for I9 filing so they may most likely have your I94#. The I94 is the one that determines our legal status. The I102 process is long and not worth it, try talking to the local customs and immigration folks I know it may sound scary but most likely if they cannot issue you a replacement one they won't prevent you from travelling. As long as they are able to create a departure record for you for the 29th that should be ok, normally that is what happens with the I94, the airline staff submits it to these folks who would scan and enter in the system. To make things easy the best way is if you can get the I94# in anyway or you can just choose to travel nothing should stop you, but its always good to be honest and report things to the concerned agencies. All the best and good luck.

Thanks All!
I went with regular.I learned that I could upgrade anytime after I receive the receipt. So, if there's any changes as others have warned in the forum, I'll upgrade at that point.
Not sure if my response makes sense to most, but, I wanted to get this done during Nava Ratri. My attorney wouldn't process it Premium way until they receive the physical check in hand. Which means I'll have to push this into next week, I was not ready for that either.
Long explanation, but all who responded and viewed the thread deserve one.
Thanks for responding. BTW, the fee they quoted me was $1250.00 ( 1000 + 250 processing fee)
Go for regular, the current processing time for I140 TSC is 4 months, you should be able to get approved before the next spillover season which is Jul - Sep 2011 (This is still a long shot for us :))

I do not see update on online status on the registered cases in my portfolio in TSC.
My wife had applied for AP in first week of Feb, we have received AP in a months time but online status still shows "Application received on Feb xx 2009........"
Saurav
Same here, I applied for AP in the first week of April, I have received the approval letters but the online status shows, your application was received on.... and still pending"". I think there is definitely a disconnect

Although you dont realize, in this case, you would be using AC21....Your I-140 is approved and I-485 pending for 180 days, and you are moving from your original GC sponsor to a different employer. That is AC21 for you! The part of law that allows you to port your GC from original GC sponsor to a different employer.
Think of this scenario. You work for Company A on H1/L1. Company B sponsors your GC. You join B after you get your GC. In this case, there is no Ac21 involved. But in your case, according to my understanding, you would be invoking AC21.
Thanks!
I completely agree with gcisadawg. Technically you are invoking AC21 if after your GC is approved, you do not work for the petitioning employer. Also curious, as to why you wouldnt want to send in a letter for AC21, unless your job duties are not "Same or similar", in which case you run a bigger risk.

First I want to learn to take more pictures. I never seem to have the urge, opportunity and camera all in the same place at the same time.
I also would like to learn what to take pictures of. I am obviously limited by the capabilities of my Cybershot and circular polarizer. What kinds of photographs, subjects and conditions should I concentrate on so that I can take pictures I will be pleased with?
I live in Houston.
BrandonYou have to provide the motivation. The opportunity is everywhere you look.
You will do best taking pictures of things you like. You will put more of yourself into it, and it will show. Whatever equipment you have is sufficient to start climbing that learning curve. When you outgrow it, you will know it and upgrade.
Houston? Sorry, I didn't read your profile earlier. We just happen to call the same town home. Let's hook up some time. Send me a PM.
