Gore Verbinski trenches 'Pirates of the Caribbean 4'


Hollywood director Gore Verbinski, the director of producer Jerry Buckheimer and Disney Picture's blockbuster ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ trilogy, with not direct the 4th installment of the movie franchise. Instead he will direct the full screen adaptation of bestselling video game ‘BioShock’ which is to be produced by Universal Pictures.

The 4th installment of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ is expected to go on floors by mid 2010. When asked about this Gore Verbinski said "I had a fantastic time bringing 'Pirates' to life, and I am eternally grateful to Jerry, Johnny and the rest of the creative and production team. I'm looking forward to all of us crossing paths again in the future."
The film based on a script by John Logan is expected to start shooting in 2010.

However before Gore Verbinski directs ‘BioShock’, he is busy direct the Paramount Pictures animated film ‘Rango’ which has also been written by John Logan, and will feature the voice of Johnny Depp. ‘Rango’ is due to release by March 18, 2011. According to reports Gore Verbinski is also developing a new live action movie based on the Hasbro board game ‘Clue’ which has been written by Steven Knight. In addition he is also expected to develop a project called ‘Black Hole’ about a scammed rancher, and David Fincher's ‘Heavy Metal’.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer roped in Oscar nominated screenwriter John Logan of ‘The Last Samurai’, ‘Any Given Sunday, ‘Gladiator’, ‘The Aviator’, and ‘Sweeney Todd’ fame.
