Miss Teen South Carolina USA Explains Her TV Mishap
Lauren Caitlin Upton, Miss South Carolina Teen USA, who has been the laughing stock of internet after fumbling her response to a pageant question, was given a second chance to answer it yesterday morning on the Today show.
Upton - who fumbled when asked the question of why one-fifth of Americans can't find the United States on a map – claims that she drew a blank.
"I didn't do anything wrong," she told South Carolina's The State newspaper "I wasn't expecting [the question]. I lost my train of thought."
She added that she "completely misunderstood."
Well the 18-year-old student got a second chance at answering the question, which will no doubt haunt her for the rest of her life.
Check out her (scripted) response right here.
