John Carpenter to direct ‘The Ward'
John Carpenter of classic films ‘Assault on Precinct 13’, ‘Halloween’, ‘The Thing’, ‘Escape From New York’, and ‘Big Trouble in Little China’ is going to direct psychological thriller film "The Ward". He last helmed the film "Ghosts of Mars" in 2001. Echo Lake Entertainment and Saw series' Peter Block are jointly producing the film. The shooting of the flick is scheduled to start in May 2009.
The script was written by Michael and Shawn Rasmussen. The movie is about a young woman in a mental institution who is terrorized by a ghost. Amber Heard of ‘Alpha Dog’, Remember the Daze", "Never Back Down" and "Pineapple Express" fame is going to play the woman role.
Carpenter said: "The Ward is the kind of script that I've been looking for: a complex, visceral story, full of suspense and scares".
