I think dual core i7 or i5 is more likely for the base 21.5". It's great there will be newer machines. I won't be upgrading my 4-month-old base. Instead, I'd get a SSD, 128GB or 160GB would do fine for me. Waiting for the prices to fall down.
There aren't any desktop Sandy Bridge dual-core i7s. The low-end will most likely be either dual-core i3 or i5, however there's only one dual-core i5, the rest of the i5s and i7s are all quads.

Yes I do have Xcode installed and also I hace an Apple dev account, but I've had it for long and gestures were not enabled on the previous updates to my iPad. If nobody else can confirm gestures on their iPads then what you say might be the case, but I still cant understand why they were not enabled on the previous updates.
I do not have xcode installed and I just updated my ipad2 and no gestures option on mine.

I just bought one Friday. I guess I'm returning it.
It has been a while since the last refresh and if you follow things here, you would have known to wait.
I've got a 2.5 yr old MacBook that is feeling stretched with Aperture. I've been thinking that an iMac / iPad combination would be a good replacement.
Anyone with experience in getting iPads to work with iMacs (specifically remote access)?
I have an iPad and use iTeleport on my iPhone 4 and iPad to remote access from my home network and remotely into my iMac. Works fairly well. There is some lag but when you need to get some stuff done, it can be quite useful. I wouldn't recommend it for significant workload.
Do you guys think there will there be another refresh with Lion pre-loaded this summer? Im looking to purchase my first mac but wanted to wait until Lion drops.
They won't refresh again before Lion, probably not for another year, but they will ship with Lion when it comes out. Lion will cost you whatever it retails for, whether that is $129 or $29 (and I'm guessing it will be back to the $129 as it isn't the minor bump Snow Leopard was), with the only exception being that once they announce a release date (probably at WWDC), any machines purchased after that and before the release will be eligible for a copy of Lion at $9.99 shipping fee, so you aren't discouraged from buying during that 2-8 week period.
Skint at the moment but exactly the above.
I was looking at the 24" and held off for the update when they did the 21.5 and 27.
21.5 is too small for me really and 27 is too big.... 24 would have been the ideal size really so I held off and in the end didn't bother.
Will probably get a 24" monitor and a henge dock or maybe a mac mini instead
Honestly, I've looked at the dimensions and because of the wider aspect, the lack of an aluminum border, and almost edge to edge screen the 27" iMac is not much larger dimensionally than the 24", though the screen is larger of course.
Personally, I am waiting to update my 24" 2.8 Ghz Extreme iMac (aluminum rev. A - Aug 2007) to a new 27" but will hold out a couple extra months for a 10.7 preloaded machine. I prefer to do a clean OS install which I don't want to repeat so soon. Setting up all those apps, and copying in libraries, files, and other data from a backup is something I only want to do once.

The "Install VMWare Tools" botton is miss labled. It does not install them. What it does is replace your CDROM with an image file. Try thse steps:
1) click "Install VMWare Tools"
2) Go inside your guest OS and look at the CDROM drive.
3) From Inside the OS install what you find on the CDROM.
4) Re-boot the guest OS.
Thanks Chris,
What the problem was is that I had installed WindowsXP from and .iso image, so after the installation and everything was up and running, the D Drive "D:\" was still that .iso. I had to change the D drive to the actual DVD-ROM and the restart. Once that was done I had no problems installing the VMWare Tools.

Looks like a bar of soap. Which I guess is OK. It IS different, 'fresh', and will make a fashion statement for those who care about such things.
I guess that not many people on here remember the white iPods and white iBooks back in the day. Man, I miss that white finish. I might just buy the white iPhone at full price.

Do you want to buy 4 iMac 27''? Really nice , but why??
And also, a couple of Time Capsules? What are you planning to do with a computer?
I imagine he's kitting out a lab / office. No matter how nice the machines are, 4 of them is a bit much for a personal user ;-)

Apple stock is tanking because Apple stopped making tools (which people need) and started making fashion objects (which are the first to go in a recession.)
Maybe if Apple would make some real computers at fair prices... instead of these toys...

i would rather have a better feature and higher quality phone than just squeezing into the usual deadline. If apple thinks it is necessary to push back the release than I think there is always some reason behind it.

^^^ You should install those updates ;)
Ha ha ha, I was actually installing them as I took the screenshot. No updates to do now ;)
Actually I reckon this product name is a code name for a virtual iOS machine for Mac devices enabling iOS apps on Macs.
Saying that, its also likely a 'split off for iPad 2', the reason I think that? Well, iBooks also has that product name. AppleTV would be lousy for book reading IMO. Perhaps some apps will only work on iPad2 and not on iPad(1), due to processor requirements or camera, for example, hence split the compatible apps into two categories. If so, why are games like Angry Birds HD not showing up, which are compatible for both?
Thats why I thought the Virtual iOS software for Mac is more likely, book publishers might want to see how their book looks like in iBooks

Interesting, considering there are only 194 recognized countries on Earth. Which planet are the other 6 countries located on?
Earth:
1. The Arctic
2. The Antarctic
3. Canada
4. Texas
5. California
6.+ The Independent Countries located in the Florida Keys...

As long as my daughter is in there, I will have a say who goes in the bathroom. my daughter isn't a woman yet, she is a girl, and I will do whatever it takes to protect her. Like it or not, I think gender bending is wrong, and people like you will not be in the bathroom with her. When she is finished, it is all yours.
my views may not be popular in this thread, and I expected the regular insults that you libs dish out to people that disagree with you. If your afraid of dissenting opinions, then you need to stay on some of those forums that will always agree with you, and will nurture you, and your life style.
"you libs" amuses me, I don't recall ever expressing strong political views on this forum, supporting any particular party or anything of the sort, unless you mean liberal as in someone who supports constitutions, liberal democracy, free and fair elections, human rights, capitalism, free trade, and the freedom of religion? Find me a prominent republican that will disagree with most of those and I'll accept your label gladly.
Please don't brand me or anyone else as politically partisan simply for disagreeing with you.
I'm curious as to what you think my "life style" involves that's incompatible with yours or anyone else's? I don't need "nurturing" nor do I need everyone to agree with me all the time. I've been around this forum for a while now, I've met probably approaching 100 members at one point or another, more than a couple of whom have posted in this thread. Please don't indicate that I'm unwelcome here, reality disagrees.
I'm not afraid of your opinions, if anything I'm merely concerned by them. I'm also bemused by the fact that you seem to think that you own public restrooms, if you want to hold your daughter back from using it while someone you disapprove of is using it then sure, while I disagree with your motives that's your own prerogative. If however, hypothetically, you were to block me from entering, we would however have a situation on our hands, assuming your threats of violence hold true. You would be the one they would arrest.
I'm just fine with people disagreeing with me, however threatening me with violence, denying my identity (albeit indirectly) and airing a standpoint of intolerance I take slight issue with, issue enough to argue with you. I've not reported any posts of yours or anyone else to moderators. There's no reason to get confrontational here.

Well that certainly isn't what Microsoft is about...
All of a sudden they're going to be innovative? What the hell? It's going to be a combination of every player on the market but you can probably plug it into your XBox to have it charge. I hope it costs like a thousand dollars.

Bash is under the GPL license - not GNU. Never has been GNU see source link -> http://www.opensource.apple.com/release/mac-os-x-106/
BTW - No part of MacOSX is distributed under GNU licensing...
Uh ? GNU is a project, not a license. GNU stands for GNU's Not Unix. It includes things like the GNU Libc, Bash, Emacs, a full OpenSTEP implementation known as GNUStep and various fileutils. It also includes licensing, like the GPL for instance.
This GNU project that includes amongst many things Bash and the GPL license were launched by the Free Software Foundation and Richard M. Stallman as part of the man's vision of software freedom.
Don't correct me if you aren't at least going to provide factual and true information. Again, I know what I meant and I know this stuff as I've been dabbling in it for the last 12 years if not more.
Here are some links you might find interesting if you really want to learn about this stuff, none of these will be on Apple.com (please don't use Apple.com to prove points about Free Software) :
GNU GPL : http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html
List of GNU projects : http://directory.fsf.org/GNU/ (notice Bash)
An explanation of the GNU project : http://www.gnu.org/gnu/gnu.html
So to correct your post which attempted to correct mine : Bash is a GNU sub-project that is licensed under the GPL. Thank you, I knew all of that already. And technically, you're quite wrong, every GPL package that Apple ships is under GNU licensing since the GPL is a GNU project license.
