Great! You will get the actual receipt notice like paper filing in a week. Also FP notice to take a picture for your EAD.
OK i e-filed and it showed Nebraska address generating LIN no's instead of MSC etc , it prompted me where my 485 is and i think since it is at NSC it routed automatically to NSC

Thanks IV for your efforts on this. This is jsut personal, but I do find the timing too much of a coincidence. My thought would be related to the increase in filing fees aspect that will now net USCIS a goldmine in terms of huge filings.
Is there a timeline we can figure out that would allow for most filings to go through at the old fee structure?
That would net some savings for filers who have multiple dependents.

Yeah, H-1B is a dual-intent visa where you are allowed to apply for permanent residency besides temporarily working in US...so, unless there are any specific Malaysian Immigration restrictions, your US Consulate in KL should not be asking you for any proof of air ticket purchase.
Having said that, this list of additional supporting documents that they might ask is not standard across various consulates. So, it is better for you to directly get a list of "additional supporting documents" that they have on radar either through the consulate or any of your Malaysian friends/network.
Since it is a H-1B extension, at the bare minimum, you should carry the certified copy of I-129 by your immigration attorney, most recent employment verification letter signed by your supervisor, most recent pay statements, W2s and bank statements. This is in addition to your I-797 original, original educational degree certificates, a copy of your resume and the completed DS-156, DS-157 forms.

Also, if you are planning to start on your own you can only have a 'C' corporation but there will be two levels of taxation, meaning first the corporation's income will be taxed and then individual's income.
Whereas, if you partner with a US Citizen or a permanent resident you can start a 'S' corporation which only has single level of taxes.
But in my opinion if carefully thought and executed it still is worth it, as you would get some postive cashflow (hopefully), if you sit idle nothing. :)

What happens, once he moves to the new employer and his present employer withdraws I-140? For any subsequent H1 transfers/extensions will he will need to have an approved I-140, which is not withdrawn ?

I have a similar question. I filed for my 485 in June 2007. But, did not file for EAD at that time. However, I filed for my EAD in March 2008 with the new filing fee i.e $340. My EAD is up for renewal (it's valid till Jun 12th...but considering the 3 month wait time, I am plannig to file it around 13th of this month ).
Since I have already filed with the new fee structure I am hoping I dont have to pay any fees , right? But, I dont see any instructions to that extent. Can any one please point me to the right link or document?

As per my understanding, since you filed for 485 before August 17, 2007 you have to pay renewal fees for EAD/AP. ONLY if you have filed for 485 after August 17 2007 you don't have to pay renewal fees for EAD/AP.
What matters here is when you filed your 485. It does not matter when you applied for EAD/AP as these are based on your 485.

I am from Florida and just filed my I-485. I went to the DMV yesterday to renew my drivers license and something unexpected happened. They took away my old license and gave a temporary one valid for 30 days. They also said they will have to verify my immigration status and once this is done they will mail my new drivers license. Has anyone had such an experience? How long did it take to get your new license?
Its a common practice. Don't worry, you will get your new DL in mail before 30 days. Samething happened to me when i moved to Maryland state, they took my old DL and gave the new DL. You cannot have more than one DL at any time and so they have to take the old one.

In a move that could ruffle a few feathers in the Barack Obama administration, American entertainment giant Warner Bros has said it will be outsourcing jobs to India.
It is believed that about 200 positions are to be outsourced to India and Poland by Warner Bros, which will slash as many as ten per cent of its 8,000-strong workforce in the coming days.
"While no final decision have been made internationally, the company expects the layoffs, elimination of open positions and outsourcing to affect nearly 800 positions worldwide, or approximately ten per cent of its 8,000 employees," a Warner Bros official told PTI in an e-mailed statement.
About 200 open positions and 300 outsourced jobs would be affected as part of the reduction, while another 300 employees would be laid off, the official said, adding that jobs would be outsourced to India.
While the spokesperson declined to comment on exact number of jobs being moved to India, the sources said that about 300 positions are being outsourced, out of which about 200 would go to India and Poland.
Open positions are referred to those, which are currently vacant, and for which, the company was hiring.
In January, Warner Bros' Chairman and Chief Executive Barry Meyer along with president and chief operating officer Alan Horn had said the company would be reducing its staff strength.
"We have examined every aspect of our business in order to cut costs responsibly and to keep staff reductions to a minimum.
One way to achieve these objectives is to outsource certain job functions to a third-party company," Meyer and Horn wrote in an e-mail to employees on January 20.
It noted that even though the decision to cut the workforce was "very difficult" to make, the move reflects changes necessary for stability and growth going forward.
"We are very sad to announce that based on the global economic situation and current business forecasts, the studio will have to make staff reductions in the coming weeks in order to control costs," the e-mail said.
Meyers and Horn wrote in the e-mail that the changing entertainment business landscape, shifting consumer demand and the overall state of the economy have affected companies around the world, and "Warner Bros is not immune to these factors".

Here is my situation:
I-140 approved and about to file 485.
Employer says he can file only 485 and no EAD for me. But he can file EAD/AP for my wife.
Can I file EAD/AP for me separately on my own? What are the consequences from my employer if I quit after six months of applying 485 (by that time I would've got my EAD/AP)? Can he reject my 140 and/or 485?
Yes It applies to new employer as well.

With the revision of the bulletin being revoked, things kind of worked out ok. However why has'nt anyone looked into what exactly happened on July 2nd and who was responsible for what? All the questions that Zoe Lofgren asked were very legitimate. Why were they not answered? We had Condi Rice say that all visa's were exhausted; this was on TV. Was she lying or mis-informed by someone in her department? Who misinformed her? What was the motivation for revising the bulletin? Who ordered the mass-processing of pending applicatons that we have now seen? Why were all dates made current in the first place? Which agency did it and who did they not talk to?
If it were not for the flower-campaign induced media exposure, and the tough stance taken by Zoe Lofgren, USCIS/DOS could have gotten away doing whatever they wanted. What if the next time something like this happens Zoe is not working on the immigration subcommittee in the House? No one else stood up against this mangling of the law. If you steal a car and two weeks later go put it back where you took it from, it does not change the fact that you stole the car and must be held responsible for it. Where is the responsibility for what happened on July 2nd?
Anyone contacted the Ombudsman to see if he is doing a special report on this July 2nd fiasco?

This is the wrong forum for you to ask this question. However, I know that (c)(9) is not correct on line 16 for your wife's case. (c)(9) is only for Employment Based GC applicants.
That is not true! (c)(9) is the right code for all pending adjustment of status applicants. See the instruction to Form I-765 here:

Did anyone travel to India, by landing at Delhi Intl airport, and then proceeding to other destination city through a domestic airline?
Never been to Delhi, and I have no idea how Intl and domestic travel works in tandem...

Once while coming back from from Mumbai via Delhi, we did not have to change the flights, sat in the same flight to London.
And on other occasion where the connecting flight was Sahara to a Local Indian airport, we had to take our luggage and go to the Delhi domestic airport.
While in both cases, the Airline would arrange for the transport, Delhi has an inside route for passenger transfers(other vehicles are not allowed), while in bombay the bus goes thru the city, where the traffic is always severe.
In both the airports, if you are landing in the late morning (after 3-4am), you should follow up with the local airlines transport co-ordinator( bus driver ;)), to see what time is he gonna wake up and take you to the domestic airport.
Once when my inlaws were transferring from Bombay local to bombay international, they took a cab instead, as Jet airways did not have a bus ready to take the international passengers when they got out of the airport.
