I am currently using a white Macbook (2.0 GHz / 3GB / GMA 950) from 5 years ago and it is performing admirably for most daily tasks; the only that stretches it a bit is my RAW photo editing on Lightroom 3. I process photos from my Canon EOS 60D, so we're looking at ~20MB images.
I'm thinking about getting a new machine and am considering the following. Note that I'm not concerned about the hard drive capacity, since I use external drives extensively anyway.

I will be. I didn't reserve one so I was a little nervous about what would be a good time to show up. I already have one being shipped tomorrow but I need to get another one. 4:30 or 5 sounds like a good time.

I think any apple store will be safe for launch day. Even if its a long line, I think they'll be good with large quantities for the weekend.

Thank you for posting this review, I was just looking at buying these the other day since my old pair of Shures finally gave out. I was almost going to get them at the Apple Store while I was returning my iPad Smart Cover but saw them on Amazon for a little bit less, no I just have to wait for shipping.

I purchased the 2011 13'' MBP about 6 weeks ago (my first Mac laptop btw:cool:) and I am planning to also get an iPad by September. I used my friend's and it is just... well, a really good experience. I plan to use the laptop for work & school and I'll use the iPad for general web browsing, books/news/magazines, entertainment (iTunes, Netflix, games), etc.. I figure it should extend the life of my MBP as well because I expect to use it less once I get an iPad.

Thank you for your replies. The iBook has 512 MB built in, I've added 256 MB which I had lying around here. I can get another 512 MB stick for free so I will try that first, if that's not enough I could always add a 1 GB stick later on. I've ordered the Samsung hard drive and a spudger to open it up.
I've tried MacTubes and it runs fine, but I really like being able to play videos in the browser and read the comments directly under the videos.
I hope this makes it feel a bit more responsive, because it's still very usable for internet and word processing. For serious work I have an iMac so it's mainly a second machine.

i'm thinking of selling my 2G silver mini. i'd like to get a nano instead, or just "make do" with my shuffle for working out. it's in really good condition - only a few minor scratches on it and i have all of the accessories and original box. it's still under warranty for a couple more months as well, so applecare could be purchased for it. if this sounds interesting, let me know...

As for future support for syncing iOS devices, iTunes will be the biggest culprit. iTunes 10 requires 10.5.8, it's likely that the next major update to iTunes requires 10.6, which PPC's can't run. The big question is, how soon until that happens? With Lion due out this summer, I doubt it will take 2 years before Apple drops support for Leopard.

No, i can still get the printer from canons website no problem. So it is apple who has discontinued...they just stopped carrying it.

Do you prefer to work from one 'main' computer or more?
Using one main computer has it's benefits, everything is in one place, no juggling files or file syncing software. It's easy to stay focused working from one desktop.
But, if you have mobility in mind you'd need the computer to be a notebook and work with a limited screen size or add an external display .... but then there's the plugging/unplugging all day, files need to be kept in sync...
What's your setup like, one computer or two, how do you use them?

Where did you buy it? I hope it wasn't craigslist. If it was eBay I would print out the listing information just encase if it turns out there's nothing in it. You could then open a case on eBay and demand your money back.

Does anyone know "if" or when a refresh for Time Capsule 1T is coming out? It has been some time now, and I have read users have had issues with it.
Some users have had their hard drives go out, losing their data after about 1.5 years of use. :confused: It is in multiple feedback entries on Apple's Store site...
Any thoughts? I would like to purchase one, but I am reconsidering...would like some advise. Thanks
