we must always have a current and valid AP even if we have no plans of travel.
Last year we were thinking that "1) I'm not planning on going anywhere after / atleast for a year.". Then one of our parents had an accident and we could not go, because there was no valid AP.
I guess, we can not take any chance on AP or EAD. Apply prior to the 120th day of expiry.

2) My wife's AP filed last year took Six months to get approved and what happens if you fly out while your AP is pending / sent for renewal. I read in this forum, not fly out, while you AP is pending.

2- I moved business travel around the rally, my boss also had to reschedule
3- I am flying in from Texas
Those of us near Washington, it will be so much easier than this for you to make it! Just get in your car or the train and go to DC for the day!

Of course Grassley Bill will give more restrictions. But it needs to be analysed whether it is right or wrong. The question is if you want to bring foreigners even if skilled persons are available for that job in USA. If answer is yes then the labor test and layoff provision is wrong. But if you really want to bring foreigners only if skilled persons are not available then the provision does not have any impact on the H1b program. And another provision 50% H1b rule will have only impact on bodyshoppers and Indian consulting companies. But not the H1b aspirants and in longterm that will encourage permanent job hiring in reputed companies.
And if you oppose CIR just for H1b conditions you are going to lose many benefits. Just one provision exclude dependents from EB cap will double or triple GC numbers. And many other provisions will make most or all categories current. I think this time Compete america will not oppose the CIR blindly just because of one provision as they realize what happened on 2007. Here is what happened - The actual name contains "ee" instead of "i" and is represented in the birth/marriage certificate. On the other hand the university where my wife studied moved to computerized certificates during her college years and change all "ee"'s to "i". So when she applied for her passport she put "i" in the application as the graduation certificate is the most important document for ECNR and that contained an "i". She may have put in a sworn statement stating that *ee*** and *i*** are one and the same person and got it attested by witnesses but I don't remember clearly because that was 14 years ago.

The first thing i suggest is to find out how much time you have to reply to a RFE. I am not sure about this ...google or search forum and u will get a answer. If you have 1 or 2 months u can follow change of name procedure and change ur name to any one and also get it changed in passport ( by giving ad in newspaper in India and US)......

Per Murthy EAD will be ganted only for one year if I-140 has not yet approved.

Thanks so much for responding to this query and providing great insight here. The only concern at this point would be if availing of UC benefits would create any issues when an I-485 app is pending but will hope for the best that this will not be a problem.

You will be required to provide your A# and agree to allow the State of Washington to share your application information with other agencies such as the IRS (UC benefits are taxable).

I guess, if you attorney represented you thru' form G-28, then it goes your attr. If you have not sent G28, then you will get it directly. Guys, correct me if I'm wrong.
