I'm not complaining. On more than one occasion they forced the competition to offer more for less in order to compete and that's a great thing from a consumer perspective.
I think once Apple saw just how deep down the post production rabbit hole they'd have to go to meaningfully support and develop Shake they decided it would be too much effort for too little return so bye-bye Shake. It was too much of a niche w/in a niche for Apple, IMO.

Checked the article on QT, and I must say I didn't think it would take that long for Apple to iterate QTX to catch up with QT. Seems like we'll have to wait a "while". Although that's no reason to delay the FCS overhaul, it can still work through QTKit Server.

hey guys
i know this topic doesnt belong here but if someone can please help me out id really appriciate it. i did try to post this a few time in the ipod section but no one seems to be of any help.
i have a ipod touch 4th gen currently on 4.3
i was trying to jailbreak it using redsnow 0.9.6rc14 to upgrade to 4.3.2 and jailbreak at the same time. the jailbreak does finish but when i check the ipod it isnt upgrading the software to4.3.2 nor is cydia getting insatalled. if someone can please help me out id really appriciate it.

Well in that case, there's a clear line that a non-black person doesn't say that to a black person. It's not like the referee had an "I'm Gay" sticker on his shirt.
I mean, what about saying..."omg...that is sooo gay" when describing a non-cool object or situation. Is that "gay bashing" too? I mean, this is getting to such a point where you can say anything that "might" offend some overlysensitive person...becomes a racist, sexual harrassment, hate, etc offense. I mean, some things are understood to be coloquial amoung pop culture.
I hear what you are saying, and I certainly didn't mean to imply that I'm not guilty of the same things. I've been using "gay" as a negative adjective for 30 years, like a lot of other people. But every time I do it, I think of what my very close gay friends would say about me using it that way. Whether they specifically would be offended by it is one thing, but the point is that it just isn't right to commandeer that word and use it as an insult or detractor when there really is no reason that it should be.
In this case, maybe you, me, and all of us need to work on changing pop culture and getting it out of a grade-school mentality. As long as Kobe was fined because he did a piss-poor job of acting professionally and as a role model rather than just "hurting the ref's feelings," that's a start.

This is my first time witnessing a live Macworld. I made the switch early last year and have become more addicted since. I was hoping for an update to the Mac Pro. A price drop, Cores maybe. Some More Juiciness about Leopard. I think the iPhone is really cool! I'm not that interested tho. I'm happy for everyone that has been dreaming of one.
I found the announcement of the name change to be scary. Obviously this keynote is a good example of how they are dropping the "computer" focus on the company. Which is kinda cool in a way but scary too. Just when I start getting into this whole thing they switch focus? I hope this isn't as bad as I think it could be.
I'm voted on disappointed but I am not totally bummed. I still think it was a great keynote. And I still think Steve and Apple are "Wicked cool". I can't wait to see the video.:cool:

Really because I was told by someone at William sonoma today to skip it ($80) and buy their $60 cuisinart. He said it doesn't stay cold long enough to firm up.
Typical salesman crap. Just have to keep it in the freezer for 15 hours and churn the ice cream for 20-25 minutes and it will be ready. If not, it will take a few more minutes( often happens when I make Irish Cream ice cream as the alcohol lowers the freezing temp of the ice cream). But, it stays frozen plenty long enough for the ice cream to firm up.

Get a $100 inkjet cd/dvd printer. I use the Epson R320 (has a few more bells and whistles). You can Google images and print just about any kind of image on your discs. They look GREAT!
Generic ink is about $15 for a complete set! Doesn't look the best for photos but works fine for labels.
Thanks for the tips. Still, Lightscribe or Labelflash or equivalent would be a nice feature, especially in a notebook computer. If you're out and about with your notebook and you want to burn a disc, it'd be convenient to be able to just burn a few words on to the disc rather than bothering with printers, inks, labels, markers, etc.

well here is the damage.
I cant get the old paste off the gpu as its baked on hard! I've managed to clean the heatsink of the remnants though.
Will applying a layer to the the GPU be enough? Will the remaining contact area of new paste be effective or is it FUBAR?
Rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) and qtips can't get more of the paste off? I've read about people using a razor blade before to scrape it off, or use acetone, or even a hair dryer. You might wait for someone with actual experience removing the old stubborn stuff to post a reply, I'm just repeating what I've read elsewhere.

To clarify, I have .Mac and love the features, I just think for $100/yr, Apple is being a little chintzy with storage (after all, Google offers 2 GB for free and AOL offers unlimited space for free).
For $100 a year, they should boost the speed of iDisk by about oh, I don't know, 100x... still "too damn slow".... oh, and also drop the price to $50. If they wanna get more people in the door, they have to offer something free to start with, perhaps email should at least be free.

I really like the concept HP has done with their up coming slate/Pre integration. Being able to respond to a text while on my iPad would be awesome. Anyone hear of an app that can do this? If not lets get one going :)

I have the same minute plan, with the unlimited data plan, and a FAN - I had no trouble switching the messaging option over this morning.
Yeah, they still haven't gotten back to me. No idea what could be so hard about applying this to my account. I'll call them back in about a hour if I don't hear anything.

Prisons, therefore, have no business trying to mete out punishment by making convicts miserable. It serves no useful purpose and I believe is actually counterproductive in that it breeds resentment toward society in the heart of the prisoner. Everything we do to make the prisoner (who may be released at some point) miserable reduces the likelihood that they can successfully rejoin society.

A range of structural and programmatic changes are required to address these issues. Among other things, social and psychological programs and resources must be made available in the immediate, short, and long-term. That is, modified prison conditions and practices as well as new programs are needed as preparation for release, during transitional periods of parole or initial reintegration, and as long-term services to insure continued successful adjustment.

Personally, I find theocracy distasteful, but to describe Shari'a as stupid extremist ideology is absurd. From what I have read of it, much is a fairly reasonable social code. Hardly any worse than what prevailed through most of Europe's history.
Are you frickin kidding? Sharia law IS stupid extremist ideology. That's the only way to describe it. Maybe you should read some more. No, better yet, go live in a country that has it. When you get 99 lashes for expressing your religious beliefs, we'll see how "reasonable" you think it is. Why are you talking about europe's history and comparing it with sharia law today? Yes it was bad, but we're in the 21st century now and europe has changed quite a bit, and for good reason. Countries with sharia law are barbaric and seem to be intent on staying in the 15th century. I have my iphoto library on an external drive connected to my mini server thats running all the time, and have set up access for my wife on her imac and my mbp to access it.
in your case, maybe a sharepoint with permissions set to only certain users.
