Well, it's mostly games, which is a pity. I know it's not a gaming laptop but they do sell them through Steam, so I'd like to buy them.
The way you say it, it seems related to the extra power provided by the SB processor. So there seem to be three solutions.
1. Undervolting, which isn't possible right now.
2. Downgrading, and, as in the MacBook Air, fixing another kind of bottleneck (HD operation).
3. Better cooling through termal paste, more fans, cooling pad, etc.

One favor, can you check out the supply of iPod Touches -- specifically if they have the 16GB model in stock. TIA.

There were quite a few in stock, and when I asked they said that most of the 16GB are finding their way to the Apple Stores, and other venders (like BicCamera) are only getting the 8GB in larger quantities.
Anyway, will see if I can 'appropriate' a couple of extra t-shirts for my fellow Tokyo based MacRumor colleagues who can't attend! Probably not possible, but I did get some extra stuff when Tiger came out�

...and this for everyone who suffers from the silly gaudy childish look of OS X and misses the clean elegance of OS 9 (it not necessarily the extension conflicts and the lousy task-threading).
1) The Classic Platinum Theme (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/15581). Installable on OS X using either unsanity.com's ShapeShifter or Duality 4
2) X-Assist (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/10519) or ASM (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/10410) to give you an application switching menu in your menubar.
3) FruitMenu (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/12974) to give you back an editable / customizable Apple Menu, to give you a hierarchical menu-view of System Prefs so you don't have to launch the entire %&## System Preferences pane and then reach with your mouse a second time to invoke the specific PrefsPane you want. And to use as a launcher.
4) WindowShade X (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/12243), to be able to minimize windows the classic Macintosh way, not like some Windows PC-wannabe. (Will also minimize-in-place to a small icon)
5) PullTab (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/18606), to pry that damn Dock's filthy hands off the keystoke combo Command-Tab, thus freeing it up for apps with original rights to it, like FileMaker Pro.

Two choices: you can minimize it practically out of existence by pinning it to the left edge of your screen and then edit com.apple.dock.plist in a text editor, manually changing the tilesize parameter to 1, which will give you a Dock about the size of a pinhead in a place where you won't mouse-over on it very often by accident; or you can nuke it entirely. To nuke it entirely, first copy Dock.app from /System/Library/CoreServices and make that copy a startup item for every user account on your machine (towards the top of the list); then make an AppleScript consisting of tell application "Dock"; quit; end tell, save it as an application, and add that to your startup items (towards the end); then, finally, sudo rm the original Dock.app from within CoreServices. Hickory Dickory, baby :)

Well, I wouldn't say it is brutal to the point of being unplayable. The point of the game is to collect these things called "Spectra" in each level. You do this by getting your character to climb higher and explore more of the levels. But you have a limited time to do this. That is where the difficulty comes in. The mechanic of the game is very easy to grasp and pretty easy to master. It is the time limit that gives me the most problems.
It is a very fun game though. I didn't mean to give the wrong impression. The game, as with all of the PixelJunk games, is very fun and has a very unique graphical look and great soundtrack. Easily worth a purchase from the PSN.
Just played around with the demo. It seems fun, I might actually get it. I'm going to sleep on it first though. I tend to make decisions I regret when it's late at night. :p

I dont think ill have a problem with the wires, myself personally, but in terms of designs i thought that it is comparable because of how the coolmaster isnt confined and it allows more air flow under the mbp. I've read stuff about how you can cool down a mbp even by raising it a half inch propped up against an eraser or something, so maybe thats where the coolmaster excels and because of the price difference, it really just basically comes down to which one does the job of cooling it down better.

I dont understand this hate for QuickTime X. Its designed for video 'playback'. Just like VLC or any other media player.
QUickTime 7 has never been good for me. I tried to export a widescreen video to MPEG4 and it came out as horizontally compressed 4:3.

The best option for the OP since his mother's ipad is still on 3.2.x is to jailbreak it with Spirit or whichever jailbreak allows for unthethered for 3.2.1 and wait for an untethered jailbreak for 4.3 which is (by all information) close to being finished.
This would give you the advantages of the jailbreak, and then you could update in a few weeks to 4.3 and get whatever features you want with that.
He can still jailbreak, just not update to 4.2.1. It's much better to jailbreak the 3.2.1 and wait a few weeks/(days?) for the unthethered jailbreak for 4.3 to come out.

If you do decide to swap out the logicboard from a newer/faster iMac, keep in mind there are two 500mhz boards out there...the DV SE which has the older 8mb Rage chip and the later models which have the 16mb chip. I'd look for a 600 or 700mhz board to be safe.

I was there and gone in 5mins. I'm going to hold off on installing Leopard until I can figure out if I could of gotten it cheaper through my school bookstore. Also, I'll probably wait to install it until Markspace updates Missing Sync for Windows Mobile.
I'm pretty disappointed about the educational price only being 10% off when its usually $69!

We already have a website/twitter/facebook, I just wanted to cover all bases and an app seemed like the next step.
You can still combine/publish those in a way that would make them most accessible to small screens including Android phones. With a webapp you can still get an icon on the iPhone/iPad screen and get your content where you need it.

your devices will automatically switch to the stronger signal as you move around the house. it will only appear once.
most large locations (like airports (not apple's devices, but the places with airplanes)) do this, and you never know.
that's only if you are using the same flavor of wireless (B,G, or N) on both units, if you are trying to create separate G & N networks, still use the bridge mode but give them different names. (up to you if the security settings are the same or not)
