what you described is very seemingly possible. look into PhoneGap (http://www.phonegap.com/) - you can develop apps in CSS/HTML/JAVASCRIPT that are compiled as normal apps. Nevertheless - it could probably also be done simply by making a normal website that utilizes the iOS Webkit - run the Mac with a local wifi network [not sure if there is a limit to how many people can be connected at once?] - then with MAMP running the server.. just have all of the ipads loading the server page.. using PHP/mySQL to keep track of who finds what. PhoneGap is the slick way to do it.. but might be overkill.

Try using passive mode. Issue "pasv" or "passive" in the command-line or find this option in your GUI clients.thanks for responding. yeah i checked the connection settings in 'Preferences'. Its already in Passive mode.

I'm not necessarily waiting for Lion to come pre-installed, just waiting to see what Apple announces at WWDC.

And I'm not waiting for it to actually be installed in the iMac itself. I prefer the drop-in DVD.

So my school's robotics team was rummaging through a closet of stuff that was to be thrown out, and we found an Apple IIe.

    I have a couple questions:

The operating system is in the ROM, right? No need for a floppy OS or something?

Does the computer need a mouse? In my reading, it seems like it doesn't.

It only had two cards inside: the 5.25 floppy card and what I think was the RAM. Does it need anything else to operate (i.e. a video card)?

Lastly, are there any things I didn't think of that I should know??
Any sweet games for it on eBay?

    Thanks!:D:D

The only way I know how to do it is to copy the quote and paste it manually within the quoted post. If the quote came from another post, as in your example, you can use the multi-quote button (http://images.macrumors.com/vb/images/buttons/multiquote_off.gif) to get both quotes in your reply, then cut and paste the original post into the post that quoted it.

Thanks, that is the method I have been using. It just seems a bit inelegant!

OK I see the problem with Netflix, Microsoft not support PPC in Silverlight (well at least for the Macs), obviously the processor in the XBox is a tad different..

It's all about the coding for the OS ;) Plus the 360 doesn't use Silverlight for Netflix.

I don't know what I'll do--wait for the video stream, or watch the text feed feed. I do miss the days of the live stream, when you were forced to let the suspense mount in real-time. But trying to recreate that suspense during the dry iTunes-market-share-pie-chart extravaganza just may force me to hit the FF button. And muck it up somehow.

Besides, it's not the same when it's live, and you know you are finding out at the same time as everybody else.

According to the timeline (http://terminator.wikia.com/wiki/Terminator:_The_Sarah_Connor_Chronicles_timeline) of The Sarah Connor Chronicles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terminator:_The_Sarah_Connor_Chronicles), tomorrow is Judgment Day.

Yesterday, April 19, Skynet went online at 20:11. Tomorrow, April 21, Skynet will become self aware and attack us. We'll lose over a billion people but some of us will survive to fight back.

Even though the TV show was canceled, I haven't seen any notice that Judgment Day has been canceled, so I assume Skynet is now operating.

Who's ready for the battle? I'm arming myself with a pocket protector and an anti-static wrist band.

The first preview had a lot of major bugs. It may be near feature complete, but I agree that they need to spend time and ensure the IDE is stable before they make a GM.

They'll just use fix-it and ship it next week :)

XCode 3 is way old. It was released with Leopard. Since then, we've only really had minor revisions (3.1, 3.2) and very infrequent intervals (3.2 released with snow leopard). I would expect Apple have been working on this for a very long time already.

Many of those features (e.g. the static analyser, which came with 3.2) could very well have been the result of development done for XCode 4.

Since the product was announced which such fanfare at WWDC, I would imagine a release would happen in the next few months. Possibly with the iPad's OS4 update (predicted to be around late August/September).

EDIT: In case anybody was worried, XCode 4 by default installs in to its own folder (/Xcode4) and can co-exist with 3.X. It can open 3.X projects and does not "upgrade" them or make them incompatible with earlier versions.

    Yes...thanks to the new PB15 I am now a 100% mac user.

I got a dual gig g4 about a year ago for editing and I recently got the 15 PB as my main computer to replace my Dell.

Well honestly I'm around 90% switched now...I'm still using my Dell for QuickBooks and Quicken.

I was going to get QuickBooks but then I saw that they were upgrading to 6.0 soon so maybe I'll wait.

But my PowerBook is perfect. No problems at all.

It is a thing of beauty. Extremely well designed. And I love OSX...and Mail's junk filtering is doing a decent job of filtering out the millions of junk mails that i get.

I get tired of these threads where people think windows is the problem. Windows is doing far more when in the background when you are staring at a blank screen than Mac OS. At the same time however, you can run far more apps in windows than Mac OS X before anything starts slowing down or becomes unstable. Finally, it is also an issue of the hardware as netbooks can get better battery life with windows than your MacBook. So to answer your question, nothing is wrong with windows.

    Hi,

Apple's MobileMe Gallery application has received a minor update today, fixing a few bugs while delivering new support for iPhone 4. With the update, the application can now download higher-resolution versions of images hosted on MobileMe when used on an iPhone 4 and connecting over Wi-Fi. The change allows users to take advantage of iPhone 4's 960 x 640 "Retina" display to view images in crisper detail.I been very disappointed with support with the iPad and mobile me,

y dont they feed it live??

Most likely to help promote being in the keynote attendance. Or it's out of MacWorld's budget. Or Apple said no, because they want exclusive rights to the video and want to put it online on their own terms. Sounds to me like the ladder.
