Spice Girls set to battle it out with Britney

The Spice Girls are said to be leaving no stone unturned when it comes to battling it out with Britney Spears for the opening slot of an esteemed music concert.
The all-girl band is vying to open the Fashion Rocks concert at London's Royal Albert Hall, one of the biggest events in the music and fashion industry.
While the vivacious five are eying the October extravaganza to make their long-awaited comeback, organizers of the event are desperately trying to rope in Britney to open the concert, her first official appearance since her troubles.
The organizers have asked the ‘Toxic’ singer to perform, but her record label has yet to decide as they are worried her songs aren’t strong enough.
But people from Spice Girls' manager with Simon Fuller’s camp are doing their best to try and get the Girls on the line-up which already includes Kasabian, Alicia Keys and Beth Ditto.
"People around the Spice Girls think it's the perfect place for their first gig in years. They're keeping their fingers crossed, but they know there are some big names in the mix,” the Mirror quoted a source, as saying.
The October 18 event, which is held every two years to raise money for the Prince's Trust, will be hosted by Samuel L. Jackson and Uma Thurman.
