“SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE” bags 10 Oscar nominations


‘Slumdog Millionaire’ has bagged 10 (Academy Awards) Oscar nominations while ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ leads Oscars with 13 nominations. ‘Slumdog’ film was directed by Danny Boyle and is an adaptation of Indian diplomat Vikas Swarups's novel ‘Q&A’. Christian Colson has produced the film on Celador Films Production banner.

AR Rahman and Resul Pookutty have won a total of four nominations. Rahman has won total three nominations for Best Original Score and Best Original Songs, Resul has bagged one in the Sound Mixing category for ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.

Bollywood's well-known lyricist Gulzar has been jointly nominated with Rahman for the song 'Jai Ho'. And it was a dream come true for another Indian lyricist Maya Arulpragasam who won a joint nomination with Rahman for ‘O saya’.

SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE is about an eighteen-year-old from the slums of Mumbai finds himself competing on the game show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire", where the questions he must answer offer a look back at his earlier life. The show's host, however, insists that he must be cheating and takes steps to force young Jamal to admit that a boy from such an impoverished background could not possibly possess the knowledge necessary to win the show's top prize.
The flick stars Dev Patel (Jamal Malik), Freida Pinto (Latika), Anil Kapoor (Prem Kumar), Irrfan Khan (Police Inspector) and Madhur Mittal (Salim).
