So when everyone buys hybrids and the gas tax revenue dries up we will be forced to pay for how far we drive.The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has a suggestion for raising money to fix the nation�s highways: tax drivers based on how many miles they drive each year.
In a report written in response to a request from Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad (D-North Dakota), the CBO laments about the shortfall in the federal budget�s appropriation for highway maintenance and reckons it�s time drivers start footing the bill based on how often their foot is on the gas pedal. The driver would be charged according to the number of vehicle miles traveled (VMT) above that which he is allowed under appropriately promulgated guidelines.
The 26-page study is entitled (none to cleverly) �Alternative Approaches to Funding Highways� and goes into some detail regarding the new tax scheme and the benefits and challenges thereof.

In CT we are taxed I believe 50 cents on every gallon. The problem is that as gas prices rise people buy less of it and the taxes dry up.
so they drive less as well if they don't buy gas..
But these taxes are historically for funding the construction and upkeep of the highways, not to curb gas usage or to spur efficiency.
A car that gets 60 mpg will do just as much 'damage' to a road surface as a car that get 8 mpg....but the 50mpg car will pay much, MUCH less for upkeep of that road than the other in a gas-tax based situation.

He's better than the McCain would have been in most things, but on a whole he gives in to the Republicans way too much. He passed their healthcare plan instead of one that would actually work, kept Guantanamo open, and as far as "National Security" goes he's about the same as Bush. So basically, he was the best of the two choices, but still not very good.

Greedy or not, if Apple and RIM are part of some patent infringement they have to pay up.
First, there is an "if" in that statement. Second, they wouldn't have to pay what Kodak demands, but actual damages. Third, Kodak has a market caps of $944 million, so if Apple and/or RIM thought there was any danger they have to pay $1bn, they would buy the company. Apparently they don't.

I just updated to 4.3.2 yesterday. Since this afternoon, my phone does not have any cellular data connection, except for wi-fi. I have checked all the settings and everything is correct. I have even tried to restore the settings and restore the phone. But it still stays the same. :(
Does anyone have the similar problem before? Could this be the hardware problem?
No "3G" or "E" or "o" icons anymore. This is singaporean network btw.

Oh, and another thing cpu manufacturors demonstrate maxed out cpu fairly frequently this is done to show the potential of a cpu not that they're going in to production. I would be that they scoured production for months before they found one cpu that could achieve what they did with some kind of special cooling. They probably had the thing in a freezer with some kind of special gas instead of air to cool it.

Not so much. Intelligence is like a measuring cup. You can fill it up all you want, but you're not going to be able to pour a gallon of knowledge into a shot glass of a brain and have nothing spill.
Back on topic - we already have legal racism, but we call it Affirmative Action. Hiring one of two qualified candidates simply because he's black, brown, or yellow and there's a quota to fill is just as bad as hiring the white guy just because he's white.

The main problem with the UI I think is that it is too hard to access things that you want to do all the time. Everything is in that annoying palette with all those buttons, when instead Apple should move some things to the toolbar. I want to be able to change fonts and styles and justification with the click of a button.
I thought one of the nice thing was that its all in one place, you don't have to look for it... thats what I liked about Keynote. You can add fonts and colors items to the toolbar AFAIK.
The thing that I don't like about pages is very simple: No text background highlighting and no ruby support, and no vertical text.

Also I found that some things easily accessible in windows are not accessible at all in mac OSX. I felt like the computer was "dumbed down" for me.
