One says, I can only remove my Future employer "X", who has filed for my GC, and carry my Priority Date , AFTER I get new PERM and new I140 from the new company.
Other one says, don't worry just move to new Employer and I don't need to refile PERM and I140.
Both lawyers are mentioned over 10 times on this web-site and both are VERY reputed.
I have NEVER worked for employer X, It was a future position and I may still join them.
I have approved 140 and 485 is pending for about 9 months.
EAD is approved and so is AP.
Please help guys!

if you qualified and filed for 485 depending on your PD, you most probably will get only 1 year extension. I just filed mine May 29th for 3 years and filed my 485 June 8th but when approved I got my H1 extension approved only for 1 year. I may be wrong, just referencing what my lawyer said..

I guess people are willing to shell out few extra hundreds as long as it expedites the process. Anyway thousands are being spent on attorney's instead if all this money goes to USCIS, atelast things gets done faster. Ofcourse the string attached to this is that the money should be spent for improving process rather than fattening the pockets of few. I am also told that most of the fee money goes towards the Border security ( May be taking money from legal applicants to curb illegals)

Now that you have all your documentation, the biggest hurdle would appear to be that you didn't mention the DUI earlier. I would possibly go ahead and contact an immigration lawyer but i'm sure this is an issue which can be resolved without affecting your application.

Generally FOIA does't give approval notice. But other stuff you recieved should be enough. What date did you use for port of entry, your first one or the latest one?
I use the last time I entered into US NOT the first time.

I have received my GC on January 28th. My company filled the following with USCIS:
I140 was filled on Nov. 21 2007 and Approved on Jan 24th 2008
I485 was filled on Nov. 21 2007 and Approved on Jan 20th 2008
Now... some people say to me to wait 180 days to quit my current job (which is paying me half of what I should be earning as a GC holder), some people say it is okay to leave at anytime....
So, I don't know what to do, I pretend to become a citzen in 5 years also, and not sure if this will count bad towards that.
I have some reasons to leave: sallary is low (they will not negociate more), wife is pregnant and I am getting a mortgage.
Please advice.
Interesting question. People generally leave their sponsering employer when they invoke ac21 before they get a GC, which looks fine and when they get the GC they stick to their new employer atleast for 6 months to show that the GC intent was for continuing employment.
It will be interesting to know if you can jump to another employer even after getting GC (something like AC21) showing intent to continuing employment.
This whole 180 day thing seems absolute ie 180 days after applying 485 and 180 days after getting GC.
I have no answer but lets see if someone can answer this. You may also want to post it on the "Free Immigration Advice Conf Call" we have one on March 1st, 2008 and get an answer from the Attorney.
On another note, is it just not possible to wait for few more onths before u make your giant leap?

I am thinking about having our parents visit us next year. I am planning to have them here for about 185 days - more than the usual 180 days. Do you think there would be any kind of problem with getting the I-94 at the port of entry if we have the tickets booked? Did any do this?

Great point.. core team should develop a strategy and share it with entire group as to how they are working towards getting these ammendments in and whom are they approaching ....

It would be ten times better if you would personally call them or meet them personally and get answers for your questions :) Does that sound reasonable?? Many of our american disilusioned brothers/sisters are visiting our site periodically/regularly to see what we are upto. They think their salaries will rise once H1b visas are eliminated. "How Sad". Anyway, as I said call or meet with the core group personally and get your answers, OK. Rest of us dont want them posting any such information on this site.

our case was recvd by uscis on July 23. we got our EAD card, FP notices , 485 receipts already. But 485 status is not online yet. I really dont need to worry about it, but was wondering if anyone is similar situation..

I spend lot of time to check status, emails, news.
If I spend the same time in my career, I could have got my GC in EB1 or atleast I could have returned my home with lot better savings & good career back at the home country :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
