They work, buy passing a relativly large current 3-20 amps, depending on wattage. to draw heat from one side to another basically. one side is -10 degrees c. The other is +80 degrees c.
This hits what I think is their main hurdle...how do you get these numbers down.
A nearly 100C difference and the amps alone make this really a problem for basic consumer devices..

Imagine if all smartphones had either a multi-user selector, or at the least a "child" mode that was easy to turn on.
I agree, a kiosk mode could be helpful. There is an app that will do this for jailbroken phones but it is not practical for the average user.
I also think that the ability to password protect photo albums should be included as a feature..

Anyone else think this is a little too public? And it's not a very comfortable place to sit having coffee�no matter how good the food is. I imagine a couple of billionaires could have found a more comfortable and more private place for coffee and a chat, unless they're being deliberately "public".

California's tax problems are easy to figure out. The electorate can vote for services separately from the taxes needed to fund them..... that's smart.

That was wierd. When i came to this forum just now. I thing stuck to my screen even when i scolled up and down, it said "macrumors - FoldingTracker (a widget just for you!)"

Yeah, I get that bug sometimes too, started in panther. I think it's triggered when you activate expos� and then remove in some funny way, like really fast and then only moving your cursor like one pixel. But it's pretty hard to do it purposely.

ya, with a pricetag like that I wouldn't accept any flaws in the monitor at all. definitely take it back.

In fact, DVD pricing is not the most important factor for Walmart and I suspect Target as well. Both companies employ sophisticated marketing techniques to draw customers into the store and get them to part with more money than they originally intended to spend. Brand-name promotions, item placements and even Walmart's "don't ask, don't tell" return policies are examples. The use of loss-leaders, selling products at a small loss, has proven to be one of the most powerful customer draws. DVDs are the numero-uno loss leader draw of most Walmarts, particularly those in the broad midsection of the country where it's often difficult to find a video rental store, much less a Tower, Borders or Virgin Atlantic store. I recently spent the summer in the Hill Country of Texas and became quite familiar with the Friday evening surge when customers would stream into a Walmart to pick up a DVD for the weekend and then decide to do a little additional shopping "seein' as they was there." I think the stores are rightfully fearful of the loss in foot traffic and the consequential loss of impulse purchases if movie downloads become popular. For the same reason, simply openning up an online store will not insulate them from losses since the profits accrued from DVD sales don't generally arise from the DVDs themselves, but from the additional shopping that is all but inevitable once you enter the store.

They just needed MS to develop a decent OS to handle it(Win95 2.1 only had partial USB support) and products to take advantage of it. Developers came onboard once they saw MS get onboard with Win98. You wouldn't have seen the iMac USB support you saw if it wasn't for Win98.

First off Kodak doesn't even have to use its patents necessarily to sue, but clearly they have over the years since they've been making digital cameras and printers for quite some time. If you want to check each an every Kodak product for patent numbers, knock yourself out! :D

That initial ruling is being re-examined.
I still think Apple should just buy Kodak and start collecting the royalties from the other companies that have already made deals with Kodak, but it looks Apple's legal strategy is to drag this out until Kodak goes under.

Hey!
I'm a new freelance photographer (just upgraded to a Canon 7D) and I was hoping to take some photos of the iPad 2 launch at the Apple Retail Store in Glasgow, Scotland on Friday 25th March.
I have seen one or two photographers there before for previous launches so there must be some interest by the newspapers/magazines.
I am prepared to do this for free as it would at least get my name out there, however I was wanting to contact the newspapers and magazines first to see if I could get their permission to cover the event for them. This could perhaps get me a pass to take photos inside the Apple Store too.
If all else fails, Ill turn up, take some photos outside (which is a public place) and email them in to the newspapers/magazines.
What I'm wondering is how do I contact them in the first place? Either to ask if they would like me to cover the launch for them or to submit photos to them after the event.
Any help would be much apprenticed.

The "Hate America" crowd never fails to amaze me. And I'm not saying that only people who are foreigners are America-haters. We've got a lot of that hate crowd here as both natural and naturalized citizens. Please don't preach to me about the ills of slavery or of religious/social intolerance. I'm quite capable of understanding and recognizing them for what they have been, and what they are.
By the same token, let's not forget that we who are here now, and even those who's ancestry can be traced back to before the revolution, ultimately are not indigenous, ancestrally, to this continent. The hatred and evils you so desperately want to ascribe to America were brought, lock stock and barrel, from Europe. Let's also not forget the role which African tribal leaders played in selling their own people into bondage and slavery. There is a saying: it takes two to tango.
What's funny is how hypocritical and disingenuous some of you folks are. I point out how I don't celebrate certain holidays but respect the holidays because I respect those who celebrate them, and Justin Long's Mac character points out what ills his platform doesn't suffer, and you call us arrogant and hateful people. We're telling the truth (and a rather positive one at that) and all you can do is respond to us with disrespect and vituperative hatred! You accuse us of being intolerant, and yet you practice the very same intolerance you accuse us of!
What's next, you're going to label us all as baby killers, murderers and rapists?
I work in a culturally and theologically diverse workplace, yet you won't see even so much as one second of me trying to push my views (religious or otherwise) on other people, but somehow since I'm a Christian (actually, I'm a Missouri-Synod Lutheran protestant) I'm a scourge upon humanity. Talk about intolerance.
